As the trade division of Highlights for Children, Inc., we publish our books under several imprints: Boyds Mills Press, Calkins Creek and Wordsong.

We believe in and are committed to publishing and exposing young readers to the best literature available in other countries, cultures, and languages. Digital Asset Management Specialist

Highlights currently has an opening for a Digital Asset Management Specialist. As one of today’s premier media brands for children, Highlights has a broad reach including domestic and international product mixes ranging from magazines, book clubs, trade books, digital content, and partnership agreements. The Publishing Technologies Department is at the heart of developing best practices for creating and distributing this content, then tracking its usage and rights availability across the Highlights Consumer Businesses.

The Digital Asset Management Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Digital Asset Management system including trouble-shooting, end-user training, and ongoing data manipulation and conversion of assets. This role also fulfills asset requests for content, including preparation and delivery of files. Additionally, this role assists with a number of DAM-related projects and initiatives. This role supports the Manger of Publishing Technologies and Director of Enterprise Publishing Technologies.

Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, the System Administrator’s role is to provide oversight and guidance to the IT project portfolio and portfolio and project management (PPM) system to support the strategic initiatives across the Highlights Family of Companies. This position will administer the department PPM to provide necessary reporting, data integrity, quality, and training to support overall portfolio governance. This individual will provide guidance and consultative support to project managers and leads in project management and PPM best practices. This individual will support management of a portfolio of IT projects and focus on driving continuous improvement of the portfolio and help to drive ongoing maturity in portfolio management. Specifically, the System Administrator will have responsibility for PPM administration, support and training, and portfolio management.

This includes the design of all 3 magazines (in all formats, including translations and digital versions), websites, Highlights Press books and book series, proprietary toys and books designed for retail, Boyds Mills Press trade books, new digital product development, and all other editorial initiatives that require the services of art and design. The Creative Director will mentor and manage staff involved in the conceptualization, design, development and implementation of new creative solutions. Finally, the Creative Director works closely with the Editor-in-Chief to ensure an overall design strategy that is brand-aligned, adheres to our style guides, and is appropriately consistent across our product portfolio.
