Lisa Carmona, President of Highlights Education Group, has more than 24 years of experience in educational publishing and technology. As president of Highlights Education, Carmona leads a team of professionals across Zaner-Bloser (ZB) and Stenhouse/SDE. As a member of the Highlights Family of Companies, we strive to always do what's right for children and to make a significant contribution to their education today – and in the future.

ZB is an educational solutions company that delivers PreK-8 literacy products and services that improve results and inspire students to become lifelong learners. Stenhouse/SDE provides PreK-12 educators with innovative, classroom-tested, and content-rich teaching strategies through professional books, conferences, and professional development.

“Our mission of supporting teachers and delivering programs that make learning joyful dovetails with my own personal mission and experience,” Carmona said. “I’ve spent my career working to provide tools that empower teachers to bring purposeful learning experiences to their students.”

Prior to joining Highlights, Carmona held various roles at McGraw-Hill Education since 2006.  Most recently, she led a team of 600+ as the Senior Vice President/Chief Product and Operations Officer of the PreK-12 division at McGraw-Hill Education. Before that, she worked in writing, editing and product development positions with Frank Schaffer Publications, School Zone Publishing and South-Western Educational Publishing.

Outside of work, Carmona extends her passion for learning through leadership roles on the Westerville Library Foundation Board. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Illustrative Mathematics.

Carmona graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in English and later earned a master’s degree in business administration from Ohio University.
