Make It a Beach WeekMake It a Beach Week
It’s hard to believe that August is upon us, a time when many of us like to head for the beach. But if a trip to the beach isn’t in your plans (and even if it is!), you’ll want to check out our new Highlights@Home collection, Make It a Beach Week! The Hidden Pictures puzzle shows a couple of kids and their dog setting sail in a boat, which is really their sandbox. Kids love to engage in make-believe play. What might your kids use to pretend that they’re in a boat? Maybe a porch or a deck, or even some cushions arranged on the floor? How about a cardboard box? In our story, Tex and Indi talk about how hermit crabs change shells. Your kids might be so fascinated that they’ll want to learn more about this beach critter. Seize the teachable moment and do some research together. While you’re on the computer, why not download some beach sounds, spread out your beach towels on the floor, and have a simple “beach” picnic. Whip up a seafood snack (seaweed optional) and you can rock the beach without ever leaving home!
