Cook Up Some FunCook Up Some Fun
We’re looking ahead to National Kids Take Over the Kitchen Day on September 13 and getting ready to Cook Up Some Fun, the theme of this new collection from Highlights@Home. Now we all know what comes out of the kitchen, but do you know how much learning happens in the kitchen? Talking about ingredients and reading through recipes helps kids with vocabulary and communication. In addition, all that stirring and twisting and kneading helps youngsters with motor development. There’s also a surprising amount of math involved in following a recipe—including counting out ingredients and computing fractions in measurements. Most importantly, your child might learn to appreciate and value the work and love that goes into preparing a meal. We hope you have a delicious week!
