Make Some Music!Make Some Music!
Welcome to a musical Highlights@Home! We’ve orchestrated this themed collection, Make Some Music, to help make life with kids a bit more fun by making it a lot more musical. Even though many of us may not be able to participate in musical activities in public for a little while, it doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy the benefits of making music at home. Music helps develop social-emotional skills, as well as language and reading skills, like vocabulary and phoneme processing. Music reinforces math concepts such as fractions and division, and it also helps with memory. This week’s collection contains lots of ideas for music-making, including a special feature from The Highlights Book of Things to Do—directions for teaching yourself to whistle. So you’ll always have music with you! Or, at least, you can use it to call your kids for dinner.
