Many families make pumpkin or apple pie for Thanksgiving, but the family in this poem makes. . . pizza pie? Have fun reading the rhyming poem together.
Thanksgiving Pies

Pizza on Thanksgiving Day?

It sounds a little quirky.

But at my house, we celebrate

With pizza, not a turkey!

We use my grandma’s recipe,

Which she got from her mother.

It’s fun to share the kitchen

As my family helps each other.

My dad and I create the crusts,

With water, yeast, and flour.

My mom makes the tomato sauce,

Which simmers for an hour.

My uncle chops the veggies,

While my cousins grate the cheese.

Last, Grandma adds some spices.

(And we all try not to sneeze!)

As we gather at the table,

We hold hands and close our eyes,

Giving thanks for every person

Who prepared our special pies.
