Sea Shell Critters
What You’ll Need
  • Seashells
  • Scissors
  • Craft foam
  • Wiggle eyes
  • Cardstock
  • Sandpaper
  • Markers
  • Glue
  • Paint
What to Do
  1. Gather several different-shaped shells and paint them.
  2. From craft foam, cut out fins, tentacles, and legs. Glue them to the shells. Add wiggle eyes.
  3. Using cardstock, sandpaper, and markers, create a beach setting. Place the sea critters on it.
Extend the Fun

For younger kids: If you have a favorite beach, write its name on the sandpaper of your seashell-critter beach using markers. Extra seashells with holes? Knot them every few inches on a long piece of string to make a beachy banner. Display it horizontally on the wall of a screened porch or hang it vertically in a doorway or outside from a tree branch.

For older kids: Play a tame version of the shell game. Place three shells on a table. With your friends watching, hide a pebble under one of the shells. Then swirl the shells around the table, mixing them up. Can your friends guess which shell the pebble is hidden under?
