Who can resist a secret message from a friend? White crayon is the “invisible ink” when used on white construction paper. These valentines will reveal their sentiments only when brushed with watercolors. Surprise!

What You'll Need

What to Do

  1. For each valentine, draw a heart on white construction paper and cut it out.

  2. Use a white crayon to decorate the heart with designs and a message. Press hard.

  3. On the back of the heart, use a pen to write: “Brush the other side with pink watercolors to find a secret message in invisible ink!”

  4. Send the card to a friend, your parents or grandparents, a special aunt or uncle or your teacher. The message is revealed when they brush over your message with watercolors.
