Here’s the cool thing about BrainPlay: it is, without a doubt, one of the most creative—and entertaining—ways to spend time with your child, and to get to know what she’s thinking, without subjecting her to the sometimes invasive or ill-timed queries that inevitably come along with day-to-day living.
Each month, Highlights offers up seriously stimulating open-ended questions—11 in all—your kid can use to boost his thinking skills, or just for fun, in any order he likes, with as much or as little detail as he feels like giving. This month’s queries encourage children to imagine the improbable (elephant Olympics) and recall what they see and hear in nature.
Try tossing out one or two topics a day—at breakfast, on the way to school, or just before bedtime. Better yet, try answering a few on your own, or with your kid, and see how many responses you have in common.
