What You Need 

  •  Index card 

  •  1½ tablespoons chicken-flavored bouillon granules or powder 

  •  1 tablespoon dried parsley 

  •  1 tablespoon dried minced onion 

  •  ½ teaspoon black pepper 

  •  ¼ teaspoon dried thyme 

  •  ¹⁄ 8 teaspoon dried celery seeds 

  •  ¹⁄ 8  teaspoon garlic powder 

  •  1 bay leaf 

  •  1 cup tricolor rotini pasta or your favorite pasta 

  •  1-quart jar or plastic container with lid 

  •  ½ cup small crackers 

  •  Small zippered plastic bag 

  •  Markers or crayons 

  •  Ribbon

What to Do

1. Layer ingredients into the jar in the order listed.

2. Pour the crackers into the plastic bag. Place the bag into the jar.

3. Punch a hole in the recipe card. Decorate the card with markers or crayons. Thread a ribbon through the hole and tie it around the container.

Write this recipe on a blank index card. Leave room on the card for your child to decorate it. 

1. Empty contents of jar and 6 cups of water into a large pot.  

2. Add 1 cup of chopped carrots, 2 stalks of chopped celery, and 2 cups of chopped cooked chicken.  

3. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.  

4. Remove the bay leaf. Simmer 5 minutes more. Add salt as desired. Serve with crackers.
