Magnetic Weather Wolf [1]
A craft for budding meterorologists
What You’ll Need
- Cardstock
- Markers
- Adhesive magnetic sheet
What to Do
- On cardstock, draw a wolf, sunglasses, a scarf, and types of clothing including boots, hats, and other accessories.
- Color the shapes and place them on the sticky side of an adhesive magnetic sheet.
- Cut out the shapes. Place them on a refrigerator or another magnetic surface. Each day, ask your child to match the wolf’s clothing to the weather outside.
Extend the Fun
For younger kids: Instead of a wolf, make a Weather “You.” Draw your body on cardstock and cut out one of your school pictures for a face. Dress “Magnetic Weather You” the same way you dress the wolf.
For older kids: Make a rain gauge from a clear glass jar. Track daily and weekly rainfall, and record each measurement in a notebook. At the end of the month, compare readings to determine the rainiest week.

Weather is unpredictable. Forecasting is a gamble. That’s what makes it so much fun. Hone observation and prediction skills by having your child become a weather watcher. What she sees outside determines what the weather wolf (and your child) will wear that day. Which leaves only one question: What will the wolf wear today?
