Business Development Manager

This role is responsible for leading the development and execution of strategies for multiple new business models dedicated to expanding the Highlights Book Club and Continuity business. The right candidate has experience that includes new product development and/or existing product revisions, is a motivated leader with experience leading cross functional teams internally and externally and can work with promotional leads to integrate new business model promotions. This candidate must be able to drive a project forward and execute in an effective and timely manner. S/he works closely with cross-functional partners to drive the successful launch of new products. This person is data driven and can assess and analyze the performance of business models based on product and promotional performance, as well as competitive brands and market trends.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of multiple new business models.
  • Manage the integration of new business model promotional activities with our existing promotional channels and processes.
  • Serve as the lead to cross functional Product Development team in developing product features, timelines, and product plans with both internal and external business partners.
  • Collaborate with product and editorial team to inform product ideation and development and to drive content decisions.
  • Work with Product Development to help ensure all product communications, including user materials/guides are in line with product marketing strategy & messaging
  • Lead the work to understand the competitive landscape and market trends, track, analyze and present the data to Leadership.
  • Create financial forecasts for new business initiatives.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on the performance of new business models, the products they leverage, and marketing efforts around them.
  • Communicate strategy and performance to Leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing or Business Administration; MBA preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in product marketing and/or development, and 3 years’ experience in marketing.
  • Knowledge of club/continuous service business models is a plus.
  • Strong driver, ability to lead and execute on projects.
  • Ability to drive multiple projects at the same time.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional business partners.
  • Financial and business acumen, and ability to understand trends in product performance and how those trends impact product financial performance.
  • Strategic thinker that can identify and recommend practical, actionable ideas designed to improve the business year over year.
  • Ability to establish product goals and report on the key performance indicators of those goals.
