Digital Marketing Manager

The marketing team is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager to drive and execute marketing strategy for Highlights Magazines. This individual partners with internal, cross-functional support teams in the creation of successful marketing campaigns that drive growth and profitability of our magazines. This person will manage and drive the marketing strategy in collaboration with the ecommerce team and external vendor partners. This person will also propose, test, and implement new offers, promotions, and product positioning based on data and analysis, in collaboration with the analytics team. This person should be a self-starter with digital marketing experience who is able to challenge norms and champion change based on data-driven decision making.

This role will participate in developing the strategy and financial performance of the marketing efforts, including programmatic display, and other digital initiatives and digital marketing strategies, as well as product positioning on highlights.com. The primary responsibilities of this position include managing existing and proposing new marketing strategies and recommendations for optimization, driving both customer acquisition and retention.  This includes offers, pricing, audience targeting, setting budget and cost-per-order guidelines for each channel, building a test & learn agenda, and planning monthly/weekly promotions for the magazines.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue and financial growth in digital channels.
  • Development of digital marketing strategy.
  • Build monthly and weekly online marketing plans, including budget allocation, sales goals, and testing plans.
  • Advise on analytics needs and work with analytics team to gather necessary reporting and insights. Perform ad hoc analysis as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the E-commerce team on the execution and communication of marketing campaigns for digital marketing channels.
  • Analyze results and make necessary improvements to campaigns based on learnings.
  • Support offline drive-to-web promotions and tests in coordination with offline media sources.
  • Prepare creative briefs, strategy documents, and other directional artifacts for support teams to follow.
  • Keep up to date on and understand external marketing and competitive trends.
  • Prepare annual budget, quarterly plans and financial forecasts, and monthly plans
  • Participate in Weekly progress meetings and daily scrums with cross-functional support team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Digital Marketing experience, preferably in publishing, retail, or financial services.
  • Strong driver and self-starter.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will not only drive excellent results in the digital marketing space, but will find ways to support offline campaigns in the digital ecosystem, adding value to the business as a whole.
  • Experience managing budgets and hitting financial targets, revising forecasts where necessary and updating leadership.
  • Strategic, analytical thinker who can identify and recommend actionable ideas designed to improve the business.
  • Data-driven decision maker with experience in GA, Coremetrics, SiteCatalyst or other web analytics platforms.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple campaigns and projects.
  • Experience managing digital channels for performance, especially SEM, and display advertising. Adwords/Bing certified a plus.
  • Collaborative; strong team player; ability to manage and prioritize the activities of cross-functional teams, to champion new ideas based on financial growth opportunity, to teach and lead where necessary to gain buy-in from leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail necessary to facilitate a flawless campaign, delivered on time and within budget.
