The Marketing Manager, Acquisition manages customer acquisition campaigns for Highlights Magazines. This position reports to the Sr. Marketing Manager and works alongside the Marketing Manager, Renewals to manage the financial health and growth of Highlights Magazines.


  • Financial Management and Oversight
    • Accountable for management the marketing budget for customer acquisition
    • Ensure marketing campaigns comport with budgeted expectations for marketing expenses, revenue, and profitability
    • Proactively work to exceed goals, advocate for any necessary additional resources, and keep senior leadership informed of any potential financial issues
    • Partner with Finance team to track and report on revenue, spend, and profit for acquisition campaigns
    • Recommend Performance Improvements via Testing and Optimization
    • Partner with Analytics, Media, and Customer Insights to read and interpret campaign results
    • Assess areas of opportunity, and create measurable test plans for evaluation of new concepts
    • Make recommendations to senior leadership and implement improvements to marketing campaigns to increase revenue and ROI
  • Manage Campaign Execution
    • Ensure that all marketing campaigns are executed with excellence and delivered projects on time and on budget
    • Ensure proper quality control to eliminate errors or mistakes in marketing communications and programs
    • Lead cross-functional project teams, ensure alignment across groups, solicit feedback and recommendations to maximize each team member’s contributions
  • Talent Development
    • Manage direct report, assign and prioritize necessary work
    • Set and manage expectations through clear and consistent communication
    • Develop talent through coaching, feedback and stretch assignments


  • Marketing experience, preferably in direct marketing or publishing.  
  • Strategic thinker that can identify and recommend practical, actionable ideas designed to improve the business year over year.
  • Analytical skills necessary to understand the impact of business decisions and create and successfully manage budgets, with strong financial oversight and acumen, and a mastery of data assessment as it relates to the business.
  • Collaborative; strong team player; ability to manage the activities of cross-functional teams to meet or exceed departments and company goals.
  • Strong driver and self-starter.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail necessary to execute a flawless campaign, delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ability to take, and give clear direction.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a timely, cohesive manner.
