We have an immediate opening for an experienced Production Manager.

The Production Manager will oversee the development of specifications and pricing for book, non-book, book plus projects for opportunistic and proprietary publishing programs. Working closely with the production director, sales and marketing, and operations teams, the manager will coordinate the day to day requests for pricing and schedules for any prospective project; creation of samples, dummies and comps; build P&L’s for each project for review; route materials and obtain needed approvals at each stage of manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Estimates costs of printing and binding books, plus items, and other printed matter, based on specifications outlined on sales order or submitted by prospective customer for all special market and proprietary titles. 
  • Review sketches or samples provided by sales for prospective projects, develop specifications as they relate to our vendors and submit for pricing. Confer with sales and production to develop or confirm information regarding various cost elements.
  • Submits specs to multiple vendors for quotes, samples and schedules.
  • Create pricing analysis, schedules and samples submitted by vendors, create P&L and submit all for review by production director, editorial management and sales. 
  • Work with retail sales team to provide samples as needed for review and approval
  • Create interim schedule dates for customer, editorial and production according to the manufacturer’s needs
  • Confirm that printers’ templates align with specs, pricing and approved dummies before putting into production.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree with 6 -10 previous years direct work experience in book production. 
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in print production with strong emphasis on pricing for manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with US and overseas vendors a plus.


  • Strong communication skills, well organized, proficient in Excel a must.
  • Working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus.
